Electronic Software Delivery

Deliver software, license keys, and IP to customers anywhere — without building the delivery infrastructure yourself.

The OMS SafeHarbor enterprise-class ESD platform delivers your software, license keys, and intellectual property to customers around the world. It sits between the systems where a release is produced and the customers who are waiting for it, so that a completed order, a new release, or an entitlement change turns into an available download without manual intervention from your team.

What it does

Releases and their associated files are catalogued once and made available to every customer who is entitled to them. Downloads are served through customer-facing pages authored by OMS SafeHarbor, or directly through RESTful web services called from your own customer portal — retrieving a single download file is one common example. Either way, delivery is driven by entitlement data rather than by email attachments, FTP credentials, or one-off links maintained by support.

Why it matters operationally

Most publishers do not set out to build a delivery system; they accumulate one. A file share here, a mailed key there, a portal built for one product line and never extended to the next. That accumulation is what breaks during a launch, an acquisition, or an audit. Consolidating delivery onto a single platform removes the infrastructure your engineering team has to keep running, gives support a definitive answer to “which build should this customer have,” and makes every download an event that was authorized, recorded, and reportable.

Who it’s for

Enterprise software publishers who ship to customers internationally, maintain multiple product lines or release trains, and need delivery to be governed by entitlement and export-compliance rules rather than handled case by case. ESD is most often the first capability customers move onto the platform, because entitlements, license keys, and compliance screening all attach naturally to the same delivery events.

How it fits with the rest of the platform

  • Entitlements determine who may download what, and for how long.
  • License management issues or attaches the keys that accompany a delivery.
  • Export compliance list-checking screens the transaction before the file is released.
  • Reporting ties the three together into a record of what was delivered, to whom, and when.
