Download Manager
The simple fact is that when it comes to downloading off the internet 80% of the issues are outside your control. Typical problems lie with the internet infrastructure, user's network connection, user's action or the user's configuration. As the size of the files increase the likelihood of download problems increase. Content Delivery Networks help with the internet infrastructure since they reduce the amount infrastructure between the end user and the CDN Edge Server.
Still a significant amount of problems exist and a plain browser download offers no customer download functionality such as pause/resume or restart. It also offers no performance or reliability enhancements, as such any problems or delays generally reflect on you and usually become your problem to solve. By embedding your privately labelled download manager you increase customer satisfaction, decrease your support costs and extend your control with a known download manager into an area you do may not normally have a presence.
Performance
The OMS DLM utilizes compression and multiplexing to help deliver a performance boost. Multiplexing is simply starting a number of concurrent file segment downloads, reducing the wait or lag time and increasing the connection to elaspe time ratio.
Reliability
Our DLM utilizes checksum and resume/restart technology to ensure file transfer happens as cleanly as possible.
Environmental and Restriction Verification The DLM can verify an environment prior to starting a download ensuring that the customer is not wasting their time, dowloading something that may not be allowed or incompatible or not fit.
Enhanced Customer Experience The DLM gives control to the end user allowing them to control or schedule the download as they need.
Messaging The DLM can display text, graphics or flash content while downloading a file, allowing you to provide instructions, promotions or service messages directly to the end user.
Positive Delivery Acknowledgement Best of all our DLM provides positive delivery acknowledgement so that processes that rely on knowing the delivery took place like revenue recognition can be notified.
